Rolling fields of Pinot Noir grapes along la route du champagne...

La Route du Champagne is filled with charming villages separated by a vast expanse of rolling hills and grape vines...and with names like 'Bouzy' and 'Dizy', you can imagine the exhilarating, yet hiccup-inducing effects that all of the many champagne houses can have on a humble traveler to the region. I'm not one to boast about how much I can drink but I was pretty shocked at the truly dizzying effects that this liquid gold beverage can have after just a few sips...and like Dom Pierre Perignon...I too felt like I was drinking stars.
Champagne is made up of a blend of three different types of grapes grown in the region; Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay...and the care, and detail that goes into the process of blending these grapes and then fermenting and riddling each bottle opens your eyes to another art form, and an appreciation for the proud history of each bottle of bubbly.
While visiting one of the underground champagne caves, I was told that champagne is the only drink that makes a woman more beautiful after drinking it...I asked my sweetey if he thought this was true...and he said...despite my slurred words...and the fact that I hiccuped after asking...he agreed. So ladies...drink up! Bubbs...

Oh Nancy...I'm so in love with you...you are beautiful and oh-so-feminine...you love flowers and gold embellishments...and you make the best bread I have ever tasted! I can't help but feel like a better woman in your presence...

I'm sorry to make you feel uncomfortable but I have to profess my love for Nancy...France that is (teehee). You see my sweetey and I needed a stopover point between Champagne country and Strasbourg and so it was a fairly last minute decision to stay in Nancy. I wasn't quite sure of what to expect and in all honesty...I figured it would be a quick stopover...we would arrive late in the day and be off to more exciting adventures early the next morning...Well...you can obviously guess from my previous love rantings that Nancy turned out to be one of the most beautiful places that I visited on this trip "back home" and definitely deserved a detour in our plans so that we could stay a little longer.

From the Rococo and belle epoque style architecture, to the story-book turrets of the Porte de la Craffe, to all of the beautiful and flower-filled green spaces surrounding the city centre...I was almost convinced that I was French Bourgeoisie in another life...it just felt all too comfortable! (ha!).

So...without further ado...I would like to introduce you to my Nancy...she's lovely, isn't she? Love you! Love, me. Bubbs...

Vineyards (with free tastings!), half-timbered houses, ville fleuries, dairy cows and the Vosges mountains are what come to mind when I think back to my explorations out east through the Alsatian wine route. It was the first time my sweetey and I rented a car in France (a cute little Citroen) which ended up being such a great experience in itself! I loved the freedom of exploring all of the tiny villages at our own pace...stopping to eat whenever we saw a cute restaurant and especially taking advantage of all of the free tastings that the region had to offer at the various wine houses (although I have to admit that I was able to benefit from this a lil more than my sweetey as he did most of the driving, teehee!). From the dry Rieslings, to the spicy Gewürztraminers, to the sweet and fruity Pinot Gris...the wines of the region provided a delicious adventure for the senses and complemented all of the choucroute (sauerkraut!), flammekeuche, and baeckeoffe that my sweetey and I consumed at the various winstubs (I love the pronunciation of this word...veen-schtoob, teehee).
The region, although French, has definite German influences (as the territory has switched back and forth between the two countries) and these novel sights and sounds (did I mention I love the word winstub? teehee...) was such a delightfully new travel experience for my sweetey and I. Although the Fall weather was perfect I can't wait to go back in the wintertime when all of the houses will look like gingerbread covered in icing and the German Christmas markets come to town! Until then...here are some memories of our adventures through the Route des Vins d'Alsace. Bubbs...

Hello moi lovelies! This trip "back home" to Paris was very special and deeply personal to me. I threw aside my habit of making detailed itineraries to just wander the streets without any real purpose or destination in mind. We let the day sort of lead us to where we would go and what we would see and in a way...I feel like this lazy style of exploring helped us to discover much more of my "hometown" than any guidebook or website ever could. We still made obligatory stops to some places a bit more meaningful to the two of us...my sweetey and I were engaged here, spent holidays here, visited shortly after we were married here and now...celebrated our one year anniversary here...so this city is truly a meaningful part of our relationship. I'm not sure where life will take us next...but I do know...that we'll always have Paris...Bubbs...

This church behind the Pantheon is sort of special to my sweetey and I. After my sweetey and I got engaged we wondered about where we would get married. I always pictured myself getting married outdoors in a garden (which is exactly what we did) but getting married in this beautiful church in Paris would have been a close second. Now every trip "back home" my sweetey and I come here to refresh our relationship vows. It's always an emotional experience for me :)

Lesson learned: Joie de vivre...

Although I've been to France many times...it wasn't until this past trip "back home" that the expression "joie de vivre" really resonated with me. I'm not sure why but I finally understand.

In everything you do...do it well...and with joy.

I've tried to make simple changes to incorporate this lesson and I find at the end of the day...I've lived life a little bit better. Whether it is something as simple as turning off the tv to really focus on the tastes and sensations of what I am eating/drinking...to something more difficult like letting go of guilt/anger...joie de vivre is my new mantra...

Let's see...it's been a while...hmmm...shall I catch you up on where I've been?

Well...

I've been discovering my inner horticulturalist by tending to my new balcony garden (filled with lovely lavender and herbs!)...

I learned how to shuffle...

and...let's see...oh yeah...

I moved.

I love how two small words...the shortest sentence that can exist...can be related to countless hours of physical exhaustion...emotional battles of keeping or throwing away personal items, and strings of curses at the shock of discovering how much...well..."stuff" to keep it G-rated, that one can accumulate over a few short years. The move taught me many lessons...one of the biggest being to reduce consumption and wastefulness...but more importantly...to enjoy the simple pleasures...like having the time to relax on my sofa watching the 'Godfather' trilogy with my sweetey (oh yeah, add that to the list of things I accomplished in my time away).

After "the Move", my sweetey took some time off so that we could enjoy a nice staycation to pat ourselves on the back and also celebrate other personal milestones (more on that later...). We saw family and friends and took small trips outside of the city to relax. Here are a few photos from another visit to my childhood home (Niagara Falls) and also to the big farmers market in St. Jacobs.

No promises this time...I'm too busy doing...nothing :)

Hello moi lovelies...How have you been? I've been feeling somewhat...distant from the world of blogging...Like every other person without a data plan...I still frequently check my computer to read my emails and also check out your lovely blogs for inspiration...but lately...I've been feeling a need to express my creativity outside of taking street style photos to take pictures of moments...of things that I find beautiful...even if it is only for a second. This is helping me improve my photography skills but also...distracting me away from my original motivation for this blog...which was intended to be mostly about street style and a diary for my travels.

I have to also admit that a large contribution to the distraction from blogging is...the fact that my sweetey and I just bought our first home together (and by home I mean a tiny bi-level loft, haha)! We're very excited and I've been using my creative powers towards renovation projects, furniture shopping and decor. I can't wait to share with you photos of our new place!

I will be back to blogging regularly...in whatever capacity...in June...till then...here are some photos taken on a recent bicycling trip to my childhood home of Niagara.

Hello moi lovelies!Well...I'm back from my trip and I would love to share loads of pictures with you...but...in all honesty...for the first time while traveling, I didn't really take many! I was with a very large group of people and we were always either in the pool, in the ocean, or sleeping in lounge chairs. Plus...even though I brought a large suitcase filled with colourful dresses and skirts, my daily outfit consisted of nothing more than a bathing suit, a large straw hat, and the same colourful wrap, day in and day out.
Here are a few photos I took upon coming home (it has been raining non-stop here!). I love this time of year because buds are appearing and in the next few weeks, the trees will burst into bloom with dogwoods, cherry blossoms and magnolias beautifying the city with wonderful colours. I'll have my camera ready to take advantage of these moments but in the meantime...a taste of the view in Mexico...Love you! Love, me. Bubbs...

Hello moi lovelies! I was recently asked for some travel advice on Paris and it got me thinking of my (self-proclaimed) hometown...and how much I miss it! I thought I would share some more of my favourite pics from my "visits home". I hope you enjoy!

Also...thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your kind words and emails last week...I am feeling much better now...and excited for my new travels! I'm going to Mexico! Or Meh-hee-koh which is how I am spelling it out in all of my excited emails to friends. I'm going with a bunch of close friends (my first trip of this nature) for another friend's wedding. I've never been, and the number one thing I am looking forward to is swimming in the cool blue ocean (and hopefully running into Andy Dufrane and Red, teehee)...

I was thinking of getting an Axxium manicure before I leave...have any of you done this before? I've heard both good and bad reviews about it but I have my reservations about soaking my fingers in acetone for prolonged periods of time...it just sounds...dangerous...On the flip side, I ALWAYS have bad luck when traveling with nail polish and remover in my suitcase (I ruined one of my favourite dresses when the lid came loose!) so the ability to not have to carry these items with me AND keep my nails chip free would be a welcome change...So for those who have done it before...would you recommend it? Let me know! Any advice would be much appreciated!

My weekend go-to outfit is...a pair of comfy jeans, a striped shirt, and a nice pair of shoes. This striped shirt is a little extra special because of the nice sparkle that the sequins add...although I learned quickly that this much sparkle on a sunny day provides bursts of disco ball reflections on walls...and people's faces, when hitting direct light at the right angle, haha.
Weekends, for me, also means committing "carb-icide" (as Bruno delicately puts it) by loading up on bread-heavy brunches, noodle-slurping lunches and buttery soft sweets like cupcakes from Dlish. I'm working through all of the flavours (my favourite so far is Chocolate Peanut Butter!)...and this past weekend it was Chocolate Marshmallow's turn. It was light, fluffy, and a welcome snack on my walk through the neighborhood...Probably not the smartest snack to have considering my sweetey and I will be traveling to a sunny destination in a few weeks for a friend's wedding. Is it cool to wear an XL t-shirt and my sweetey's shorts in lieu of a bikini while swimming in the ocean? Teehee...Love you! Love, me. Bubbs...

In a city with over 23,500 restaurants (yes, I googled it), everyone has an opinion on the best and worst of New York City. Rather than shopping, sightseeing or visiting museums...my sweetey and I spent most of our time (and money)...on food! Here is a short list of some of my recommendations...although I'm not a resident (or expert) of NYC...I do love to eat (haha) and so...this is but a humble tourist's recommendations on what to eat on a perfect day in NYC...

Breakfast: Cookshop's Breakfast - This breakfast comes out on two plates...enough said...(Sorry I didn't get a picture of the most important part...the breakfast! I was SO hungry that I completely forgot, haha!)

Spring brings so many happy things...warmer weather, my favourite flowers, and a chance to walk around for hours without having to dip into a store to warm up. With all of this wonderful change...I think it's almost inevitable that Spring brings about a subconscious need to self-reflect on one's own life and the changes that may need to come about. Lately I've been thinking a lot about this and I've come to a point where I am both scared and excited...Scared because I know that something's gotta give...and excited because I'm trying to find out what that is...Le sigh...I've been filling in my moleskin with tonnes of doodles, ideas, unrealistic wish lists and random thoughts...so far...the only thing that is for sure is...I need a new moleskin diary...teehee. Hello moi lovelies! I hope you're doing well. It was nice to be able to take some photos again after being on a short hiatus. Whenever I go away, no matter how long or short my vacation is, it always takes me quite a while to adjust back to the normal routine of daily life (which for me...includes blogging!). My body is sluggish from the inevitable travel-induced over consumption of food and trying to come down from the exciting high of being exposed to novel sights and sounds. Despite all of the great things that come with travel...I always look forward to a few things coming back home...spending time with family and friends, cuddling with my cat...and honestly...doing laundry at home...loads...and LOADS...of laundry (I think only someone who loves clothes can appreciate this, haha). The Brooklyn Flea is located in the Skylight One Hanson building...a beautiful, restored old bank room that deserves a visit in itself, just for its architectural beauty. I had heard about this flea market from other bloggers and it was the main item on my "to-do" list for my weekend visit to NYC. There were great vintage items for sale, as well as cool independent jewelery designers that kept me browsing for hours! The basement was the location of the original bank vault and it was so lovely to be able to walk through the thick metal (intimidating) vault doors to peruse through the vendors located inside the vault (the space was huge!). Although some of the vendors had an online Etsy shop, it was great to be able to talk to them directly and ask them questions about their process or the history of some of their pieces. Also, they were selling their goods at reduced prices from their online shops...wha hoo! Below are some of the items that I purchased...my sweetey had to pull me aside several times to calm my excitement (haha!)...otherwise, I feel like I would have blown my entire budget. Hello moi lovelies! The past couple of days in NYC was exactly what I needed to feed my wanderlust...I hadn't been back to the City in a few years, and it seemed like there was a never ending list of new places that I had to eat at or lounge with a drink...this was so true that my sweetey and I ended up spending all of our money...on food! haha! Unlike my other travels where I waste through memory cards, I actually took very few pictures in NYC. I'm not sure if it's the distracting bombardment to all five senses, all at once (all the time!) but I found that I would constantly be so involved in what I was looking at, or eating, or listening to that I would lose myself in that NY minute! This time back was also very special because it was the first time that my sweetey and I went a lil farther afield to Brooklyn...in fact we spent most of our time there...walking around and discovering Brooklyn Heights, Fort Greene, Greenpoint and Williamsburg. It was so lovely! One of my favourite experiences was the Brooklyn Flea! I wish I could go back every weekend! I'll post on some of my finds tomorrow...Also soon to come...the food! Oh the food! Dress, Boots, & Clutch: Zara, Ribbon Necklace: Love of Mine Boutique

Hello moi lovelies! I was given tickets to see Don Quixote and I was super excited not only because this was my first real ballet performance, but it was also my first time inside the new Four Seasons Centre. To the novice eye (my eye that is) the architecture is wonderful...the building has such clean lines, an open concept and an abundance of reflective surfaces that make you feel like you're on a stage yourself! As for the ballet, I had watched my fair share of 'The Simpsons' episodes to know not to expect a bear riding a tricycle to the tune of circus music but what was a surprise was just how much I enjoyed the performance! The costumes, the choreography and the sheer strength of those ballerinas...I was blown away! I was half tempted to order my own ballet shoes from Repetto Paris during intermission...it's never too late to start something right? haha...I'm not sure if this old adage applies in this situation.

On another note, how much do you love this Zara dress? I bought it a few months ago when I was in Spain. Usually when I travel and shop, I make a beeline for the stores that are not available in Canada. However Zara (one of my faves) is more affordable in Spain and there are so many more interesting pieces available in the collections...so I took full advantage of this! Although I don't put prices on the blog, I have to mention that I bought this dress for 59 euros...and it was worth every euro cent! The fabric is thick and the inverted pleats create a pleasing tulip effect to the skirt that makes it perfect for twirling. Plus it's true how colour can really affect your mood...the bright red makes me feel super confident! Haha...This dress only recently became available in Canada and when I ran over to check the price tag...it was $119.00! Hockey fist pump in the air, wha hoo! I love shopping while traveling...which is a ~~not so~~ great segway into mentioning...my sweetey and I finally made a decision and...we're going to NYC this weekend! It is slightly closer than Chicago and seeing as we only have a short amount of time, a couple of hours may make a huge difference! I've been restricting myself for the past couple of days in preparation for the food overload that is sure to come...I'm super excited but trying to act NYC cool...haha...Love you! Love, me. As I was taking these pictures...a man on cross country skis glided by...I have to admit...a random girl taking pictures in the woods...of herself...dressed completely head to toe in non-functional-for-the-woods clothes...is probably not the first thing that this dude was expecting to see on his Monday exercise route. I'm not sure how to get around these kinds of embarrassing situations because I love taking outfit pictures outdoors...bonus if I can get myself to the woods to take some pictures in a beautiful natural setting. I would love to see what my photography process looks like to an outsider...super silly I'm sure! Haha! Oh well...at least I put a smile on that skier's face! Bubbs...

Hello moi lovelies! How lovely are these imm living tea cups! I'm not one to collect many kitchen related items that are cool...in fact if you opened my cupboards, you'd find a mish mash of random plates, cups and bowls that have been collected or inherited over the years. You would think that I would treasure these new items and carefully display them on shelf but I've been drinking non-stop cups of tea (Kusmi darjeeling ...mmmm).

Also...a few snap shots of food from the weekend. On Sunday we met up with some good friends at the Bellevue in Kensington for brunch. I was very curious to try the famous 'Squirrel' sandwich made with crunchy peanut butter, sprouts, cucumber, cheddar and...sardines! The peanut butter was a great complement to the salty sardines but I have to admit, it's not an adventure that my taste buds will crave any time soon! By the way...have you noticed that you can just stare at pictures of food for hours? Is it just me? I realized this over the weekend when I was looking at a couple of food blogs and realized that an HOUR had passed in the blink of an eye! Haha...here's some pictures of food for you to enjoy too! Ever since eating oh-so-delicious-you-can-eat-them-like-chips churros from Spain, my sweetey and I have been on a search to find some closer to home. These are a lot dough-ier and sit heavy in the stomach but are still quite delicious. Instead of dipping them in sauce, these are filled in the centre with either chocolate, strawberry or dulce con leche sauce. They were definitely not as good as the ones we had in Spain but...fried dough...chocolate...sugar? I'm not going to complain!

One of my favourite Spring trends is the wide leg jean...It's been a looong time since I've worn a pair of jeans that my legs don't beg me to peel off the moment I get in the door. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my skinny jeans but these wide leg jeans feel like I'm walking around town in a pair of comfy peejays. I prefer the low-rise variety as the traditional 70's high-waist version makes me look like I'm wearing a pair of mom jeans. Hello moi lovelies! Well...I did it! I cut off my hair! Lately my hair had been feeling very dry, limp and dull and I thought it was about time for some much needed TLC. I would love to say that I am one of those cool girls that changes her hair according to the current trend or season but I have pretty much had the same hair style since I was a kid. I have been attached to my long (LOOONG) hair and bangs for some time and I think it stems from my obsession with mermaids, and also Milla Jovovich from 'Return to the Blue Lagoon'. I've always longed for hair long enough to cover all appropriate areas without the need to wear a shirt (haha), so ever since as long as I can remember, I have kept my hair super long and it became one of my most distinguishable characteristics...until a few days ago. I went to the salon for a nourishing hair mask and scalp treatment and thought I'd throw in a cut as well...just a trim. However in order to fully restore the health of my hair my stylist convinced me to part with my long locks...in fact...8 inches of it! I reluctantly agreed and I have to admit, my hair has not felt this light and bouncy for a long time. Although I know my hair is still long, it is no longer the security blanket of unruly hair that I once had...It will definitely take some time to adjust...I am secretly hoping that my new healthy hair just means that it will grow out faster! This dress reminds me of the outfits that fraulein Maria made for the Von Trapp family children (out of the heavy curtains hanging in her room) in The Sound of Music. The material is super thick and holds its shape very well. Although the silhouette of the dress is very summery (the back has a very cool cut out detail) the material is wintery and perfect with thick tights and a sweater. Hello moi lovelies!Last night's Spanish restaurant was a bit of a disappointment...thank goodness for today's brunch at a lovely sun lit cafe with my sweetey. Instead of the traditional Valentines day dinner on the 14th, my sweetey and I like to avoid the crowds (and the hype) and celebrate a few days before or after the actual date with a low key event (like today's brunch!) and a heart felt card. My sweetey also never fails to "surprise" me with lovely unconventional conventional flowers...instead of roses, this year I got hydrangeas! Aren't they lovely? Hello moi lovelies! I love mixing pieces of clothing that don't intuitively go together...like this casual jean shirt and striped cardigan with a fun, shiny brocade skirt. I'm not one to wear too many pieces of jewelery so instead of accessorizing to add shine or interest, I like to wear simple pieces of clothing in contrasting patterns or fabrics. The shininess of the skirt was enhanced by the wonderful sunshine that we've been having the past couple of days in the city (although this came with a f-r-e-e-z-ing wind chill!). Tonight my sweetey and I are trying a new Spanish restaurant in the city (I'm excited! Oh how I miss Spanish food!)...fingers crossed that they have some delicious jamon iberico de bellota. Hello moi lovelies! As with everything in my life...I am always (un) fashionably late...Despite any prior preparations I have made, or motivations I have given myself...I am ALWAYS inevitably late...and so it is no surprise that I'm ~~a little~~ late in mentioning a few cool peeps that have in the past been super sweet and fist-bumped my blog by giving me an ego-boosting award. They are The Owl's Closet, Obsession, and most recently Saranghaeyo~! (which actually means "I love you" in Korean). As part of one of the awards I am supposed to list seven things about myself that you don't know...so without further ado...here we go! (like the voice in Mario kart, teehee)...

I am a hugger...in fact...I will often hug someone the first time I meet them.
When I first met my sweetey in first year at University, I thought he was the biggest player and so I avoided him and his friends as much as I could. A twist of fate had us sitting beside one another in a biology lab and over the course of a year I found out that he was the biggest sweetheart! We became best friends...and the rest is history.
I am a human compass...blind fold me and drop me in the middle of nowhere and I can find my way home.
I wish I had the ability to sing...
Unfortunately for my friends, I cannot sing and I love, love, LOVE karaoke...
I secretly (well I guess not anymore) love winter...I think it's because of my birthday and Christmas and winter jackets, and cups of hot cocoa and roaring fires and naturally rosy cheeks and so many more things but I honestly love winter (minus dirty slush and any temperature that drops below negative 10 degrees Celsius).
When I was a little girl, I went through a period where I would only draw pictures of bunnies...in bow ties...with a blue crayon! A boy bunny meant the bow tie was around his neck and a girl bunny had a bow tie in her hair. My parents have loads and loads of these drawings.

Hello moi lovelies! I love investing in long sleeve dresses in fun prints because they can be worn in so many different ways other than the obvious. Today I decided to wear this dress (last seen here) as a blouse with a large box pleat skirt and belt. This formula is pretty foolproof and a definite go-to outfit for me throughout the week. I'll definitely do some more re-mixes as leopard print has quickly become one of my favourite things to wear.
A huge winter storm is scheduled to hit in the next couple of days and my sweetey and I are planning to watch some great movies and make Pakistani tea with our new tea set from Spain. My sweetey is also trying to teach me the intricacies of playing poker (the hardest part being reading your opponent's behaviour!) so that I can play a "friendly" game with friends. Hello moi lovelies! How are you? I have been (insert string of elaborate curses) freezing!!! All of my winter accessories have been serving double and sometimes even triple duty! I've been wearing scarves as hats (or turbans), capes as jackets and my Headmistress headband (last seen here) as a scarf. I never know what part of me will feel cold walking around (as it changes day to day) and overloading on too many accessories always causes me to overheat. Versatility is key and it's good to know that when my neck gets too hot and my ears feel freezing, I can just take off my scarf and make myself a little (or large) hat, teehee. With only 9 hours of sunlight and an 8 hour work day, trying to catch that elusive one hour of glorious sunshine is like rolling through the narrowing gap of a closing doorway...and grabbing my fedora at the last second Indiana Jones style. I've resorted to carrying my camera and tripod with me at ALL times! haha. Today I was able to get outside just as the sun was setting and take a few photos. Yes! Just in the nick of time! Love you! Hello moi lovelies! Seville...is the Spain that I dreamed about...and the city in which I took about half(!) of my 2500 pictures...The sights and sounds of the culture were so novel to me and it was the first time in a looooong time that I felt completely displaced...and excited...and super curious to discover all that surrounded me...From the absolutely beautiful narrow streets and colourful neighborhoods, to the delicious food and the exciting flamenco shows...it was truly an unforgettable experience. Because I took so many pictures here, I thought I would divide my time here into a few posts. Today I will share with you the day we arrived, which happened to be New Years Eve. We celebrated with the other Sevillians by eating 12 grapes - one for each ring of the bell at midnight - with cava. You were supposed to make a wish for every grape that you ate but with the speed at which I was chipmunk-ing them into my mouth...all I could focus on was not choking! haha...Here are some pictures of our first day in Seville. Hello moi lovelies and Happy New Year! I missed you! I have finally arrived back home and I am soooo excited to share my adventures with you from Spain. I have to admit...before leaving for Spain, I didn't quite know what to expect. I had never been to Spain before nor did I know any Spanish aside from "Hola" and the oh-so-important "Donde esta el banyo?" (Where is the bathroom? haha...). I was SO pleasantly surprised to find how much I LOVED Spain...I mean REALLY loved it! From the architecture...to the food (OH the food!)...and most significantly...the people! Never have I encountered people SO warm, so patient and so hands-on (literally) with tourists. Especially in Andalusia where if you asked someone where their favourite tapas bar was...they not only told you how to find it, but they recommended what to order and even walked with you a few steps along the way to make sure you were headed in the right direction. Often, my sweetey and I would find that we were the only English speaking patrons at a bodega or a restaurant looking utterly vulnerable and confused...the bartender would spot us...give us an encouraging smile and walk over to us to mime out what was the best recommendation for the day! Wow...did I mention I loved my trip to Spain?! Over the course of two weeks I took over 2500 pictures and although I would love to share ALL of them with you...I figure I'll save both of us time by sharing some of my most favourite experiences. As I do with all of my travel posts I will work backwards and today...I will share with you my adventures in Granada, Andalusia...Enjoy!!! Love you! Love, me! Bubbs...

Merry Christmas Everyone! Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I hope that you are all enjoying some much needed time off to reconnect with family and friends. I spent my holiday with family eating Christmas pasta (as we do every year!), playing Jenga and watching The Sound of Music. Tomorrow my sweetey and I are heading out to Spain and I am super excited! Hello moi lovelies! I hope you have been keeping warm! Two days ago the temperatures here dropped drastically and I have been spending a lot of time indoors drinking massive amounts of green tea and watching movies. Right now White Christmas and The Holiday are on constant rotation (with a little Scott Pilgram vs. the World thrown in as well)...Oh...and I taught myself how to tie a scarf turban, haha...For those in colder climates...how have you been combating cabin fever? Hello moi lovelies! I know I may get some imaginary shoes thrown at me but...I love Canadian winters...haha...Maybe it's the fact that my birthday is in January and I was born during a snow storm but seeing a fluffy white layer of snow on the ground puts a smile on my face (yes...that smile quickly disappears when that lovely white snow turns into grimey slush!)...I think my entire outfit today is made up of varying types of wool...(minus the headband!)...and I felt very warm and toasty...that is...except for my face...I wonder if it is appropriate for a girl to wear an Icelandic beard cap (I'm super jealous of the one my friend Bucky owns! Hello moi lovelies! To add to my Wooden Ships headbands (seen here and here), I've found another great accessory that won't give me hat hair but will still keep my ears nice and toasty throughout the Winter. The Headmistress headband! The designer uses faux fur and fur recycled from old vintage fur coats...which is amazing for my animal friendly heart...plus, it comes in a variety of styles to suit every hair colour (I tend to gravitate towards anything non-black so that it doesn't blend into my locks...from far away...I always look like I've got crazy hair whenever I wear a black toque! haha!). Hello moi lovelies! I hope you have been doing well! My sweetey and I attended our first holiday party of the year in the Distillery District and ~~we both~~ I gasped in delight when we arrived. The whole area had been turned into a European Christmas Market! It was apparently the opening night of the Toronto Christmas Market and it was packed full of people with rosy cheeks riding on the ferris wheel and munching on gingerbread cookies. I felt like I had stepped into a Charles Dicken's novel...it felt so magical!
The pictures above were taken at the end of the night long after the crowd had left...I wish I had my DSLR because everywhere I turned there was an amazing photo opportunity...plus...it was a rare moment to have the Distillery all to yourself...
I am wearing a lovely dress from Charlie Boutique that was perfect for the holiday occasion. The pattern reminded me of Erdem and the box pleats were so wonderful to twirl in all night. I shortened the hem and created a large ribbon belt from the extra material which added the perfect finishing touch (like a ribbon on a present! haha!).
My sweetey and I are returning to the Distillery tonight to take pictures, drink mulled wine and eat sausages! Hope you all have fabulous weekends too! Love you! Love, me. Bubbs...

Hello moi lovelies! I hope you had a lovely weekend! Mine was super exciting because for the first time in like 20 years, I bought a new bicycle! Living downtown, having a bike is so handy to get from point A to point B and up till now, I had been riding around town on bicycles handed down to me from generous family and friends. I finally made a decision to make a lifelong (I hope!) investment into a cool city bike that would serve as my trusty travel companion. I wanted a bicycle that would look stylish but would also last throughout the years and finally decided on the Pashley Princess Classic. The ultimate test though was doing a test drive with a full length maxi skirt and heels! That's right! This outfit is what I rode around town in!!! haha...too often in the past while riding around the city I would end up with grease stains on my pants or my skirt sullied from being caught in the spokes...but good ole Pashley passed the test with flying colours!!! I am so in love with her!!! Don't we look great together? teehee...I can't wait to show Pashley around town (and hopefully further afield to the country side once I get a bike rack!). Love you! P.S. I knotted my maxi skirt in the back to give the silhouette a more flattering shape. I also like the way the knot in the back makes me look like I have a bustle...I felt like I was riding my bike around in the 1800s when ladies would ride around in full skirts! teehee...

I love, love, love this weather! Cool enough to wear thick wool sweaters but mild enough to pair them with short skirts/dresses and tights.
